FYI, if you have group insurance (e.g., thru an employer, professional group, etc), you may have better insurance coverage.

There are a couple of significant things to be aware of. Stability. Most policies require 180 days, some 360 days. Group insurance may only be 90 days. Even if the change is good (say reducing a medication), stability is affected.

Age is another factor. My Amex card explicitly states the medical insurance benefit is not available to cardholders >65 years. I saw a card recently that had an age limit of 60.

That's why I will always keep my international insurance. It covers any age and basically any country.
