About the name card, i tend to email each hotel before my arrival to announce the room's occupancy and the occupants full names (+relation) as to avoid any confusion, mixups and situations. Although my situation cannot compare to yours, i do have 2 kids that wanted to cut all ties with both my ex-wives, so our welcome cards are never addressed again to "Mrs." [[i]my last name] to avoid any distress.
