The way it's been assumed the DOH transit security lottery works on the forum (not that anyone really knows)
1. Some origins are assumed to be inappropriate to bypass transit security. AKL is probably not in this list most of the time.
2. A random selection of flights from origins that are potentially admissable to bypass transit security are randomly selected by the Qatari authorities on a day by day basis.
Add into the mix the gate/apron lottery, arriving aircraft that get an airbridge gate are easy to route passengers to bypass transit security... Whereas those that park up on the apron and get a bus to the terminal - it's not impossible for buses to tip out passengers to bypass transit security but it's assumed it happens less.
There are examples of two flights arriving at a similar time from LHR, both docked at an airbridge, one got to bypass security and the other didn't.
Are you feeling lucky?
