3 night stay May 2025

Hi,

Whilst on my 6 week tour of Japan in May , I stayed here for 3 nights . I'm normally a hilton person ( HH Diamond) and would have stayed at the hilton hiroshima for day trips to Himeji, onomichi and okayama, the hilton was sold out mid week and was Y50k for the other 2 nights so decided to try the ANA crowne plaza okayama ( base ihg status).
I paid about Y20k per night for the lounge access executive room so would have lounge access and breakfast.
Got room 1703.
I agree completely with nicolas75 comments ( excellent report thanks)

some photos

Benefit sheet shown at check in ( invited to take a photo of it for reference)

bathroom ( small vanity area ). A little too compact to store all toiletries for a multi night stay but managed

Bath/shower combo. Did like the glass window ( with blind) between bathroom and bedroom for a bit more natural light

Bed. Room a bit compact but comfortable and adequate . Nice city views . A/c worked and room was quiet.

Afternoon drink menu in 20th floor lounge area

Plate of afternoon tea offerings delivered by the staff ( small but tasty ). Nice for a quick bite and relax in the lounge with city views after sight seeing

Whisky promotion advert in the lift

Evening drink menu. There was a couple of hot items ( no photos ) which included large fries and small fried chicken pieces. Ok for a snack then went to the adjacent JR station for some gyoza in one of the restaurants

Loved the post box close to the JR station

The made to order omelet. Breakfast was very good . By the table there was a card with your table number which you took to the chef and then the omelet was brought to you). Breakfast was quiet and very nice city views from the 20th floor

By the 20th floor elevator lobby

Did day trips to
Himeji castle ( c 15mins on shinkansen). Beautiful castle and gardens and on a monday i was surprised by how quiet it was ( expecting crowds but whilst there was a steady stream of peope there was no queue at the ticket machine or in the castle)
Onomichi (temple walk but that day was hot so too the ropeway up the hill for beautiful views and a lot cooler with a nice breeze). Stopped at fukuyama castle on the way back.
Visited the beautiful Okayama castle and garden in late afternoon ( garden was open till 6pm in May)
Went to the Bikan historical quarter in Kurashiki (outskirts of Okayama) late afternoon and it was very quiet as the shops closed. Beautiful streets and short canal.

Bikan Historical district late afternoon

Bikan historical quarter canal ( 1805)

The hotel is so handy for Okayama station ( less than 5 mins from the lobby to the Shinkansen platform and lots of places close by on the shinkansen line)
Staff were excellent and friendly in the hotel and at breakfast.
Hotel laundry was cheap
Luggage delivery and sending was efficient and friendly
Nightwear provided daily
Fridge was a nice benefit
Room was a bit compact for my large suitcase but fitted it ok ( used the luggage delivery service between hotels which was excellent)
Very nice city and station and shinkansen views
iirc 2 of the elevators have glass walls on one side and and offer some scenic views as you go up to the higher floors ( have not seen too many hotel scenic elevators in japan ime)
Whilst I do like a gym ( this hotel does not have one), I did so much walking that for 3 nights I got by without one.
Did not try the bar or restaurant
Whilst the rooms were more compact than my usual hiltons in japan, this was excellent value for money and would stay here again

Regards

TBS
