The reservation is domestic (DFW-HNL) - for both my wife and myself.
We both have AAdvantage #s - both are shown i.e. listed next passenger 1 and 2 names in the transaction - in the reservation and on the physical credit card.
i had a similar problem with a csah ticket in the past. got the free check in outbound but they asked for payment for the inbound when i checked in online. the desk agent was able to correct it when i drop my bag
btw you dont have to pay with the card, you just need to have the card and link your aa number to your ticket
