Just wanted to share our recent experience -- we definitely enjoyed our time here with just a couple of minor hiccups (barely worth mentioning)
We stayed for 6 nights on points (445,000). We booked a King Superior room (standard reward) which ranged from 85,000-90,000/night, with the 5th night free.
We did Heathrow Express (pretty cheap when booked in advance) to Paddington and a taxi ride (about 25GBP) to the hotel. Note that the St. James's Park tube station is *not* step-free, so you'll want to think about this if you have luggage or mobility needs.
When I did online check-in, it only had one room available (510), which looks like a really funny-shaped room. When we arrived, the front desk clerk (very helpful) looked at our room choice with a puzzled expression. I explained that the app pre-selected the room, that it looked a little funny-shaped to us, and that we'd be open to anything else. She did some looking and found us a couple of rooms that we could have, as long as we were willing to wait (which we were). We initially waited in the lounge, and then got an app notification so went back to the desk get our key. We went up to the room and it turned out that it had not yet been serviced. No big deal, we had a Houses of Parliament tour, so we left our bags with bell services and went out for our tour and dinner. Everything was ready when we returned, and our bags had all been delivered. We ended up in 640, which was a really lovely room (except that it really has no view) with plenty of space for our suitcases (1 large, one carry-on). I think that this was an upgrade to a "King Deluxe."
It was my wife's birthday, so we had a nice dessert and "Happy Birthday" message on the table in the room. (I had mentioned this by text a couple of days prior, when they texted me to welcome and ask if there was anything they could do to make our stay special).
Robes/slippers were available, and the bathroom is pretty sizeable (although I'd exchange the tub for double sinks and more counter space, but that's just me). Still & Sparkling water are both available and replenished daily, and there's a full mini-bar and price list. The room was mostly quiet -- but I think that the adjacent room may be one of the two-story rooms with a staircase that's sort of cut into to the room we were in. It didn't matter except for one night when it seemed that people were up and down the stairs quite a bit after we went to bed. I couldn't figure why there was so much stair traffic on the 6th floor until I studied the floor plan later in the week.
The rooms have really nice "do not disturb" and "please clean my room" switches which allow you to communicate clearly to housekeeping. I also really liked the bedside light switches, which allow you to switch the entire room into a couple of different settings. Reading lamps and ample power was also provided, although we did need to use an outlet near the desk for a couple of our devices.
We used the executive lounge a lot -- I usually get up first and have a morning coffee and then bring a couple back to the room. The layout here was consistent each day: scrambled eggs, fried tomatoes or mushrooms, one type of breakfast meat, salmon, cheeses & meats, fruit, croissants, chocolate croissants, bread, muesli, yogurt fruit (lots of fruit... really good fruit). The staff here is really helpful, and they will also bring you toast (and I saw someone ask for an omelet). I never found a paper outlining what was included for breakfast, but clearly people knew that they could get more than just the simple buffet. We didn't use it for afternoon snacks, but saw that they had a couple of tea sandwiches and biscuits available. We used it once for evening canapes, and while it was pretty light fare if it was your main meal, you could certainly cobble together a significant amount of food before going out for a show. There did not seem to be any restriction on taking water or coffee from the lounge.
We also had breakfast downstairs twice -- the buffet is MUCH larger and includes some more English-style options, and you can order three main dishes as included. The breakfast is included either by status or room rate -- having said that, they're so busy that I don't know how they know who qualifies for breakfast and why. Do be prepared to wait if you want breakfast downstairs, it was busy and slow. If you order one of the menu items, you can still access the buffet.
The hotel has a more refined/quiet adult and business vibe -- especially if you were in the lounge - I definitely saw business people who were in town for meetings or work, not for tourism. The main breakfast area was really the only time we ran into families/kids.
Turn down service was provided most nights when we were out.
We used Groupon to do their InfiniTea for Two experience at 4pm on our last day. We did not finish all of our dessert, but they gave us boxes so we took them back to our room for a taste later. Groupon made it about half price, and we had no problems using it.
I had forgotten to ask for a bulldog earlier in the week, but on our way out on the last evening, I remembered. I asked at the front desk, and they delivered a bulldog and an extra dessert to our room for the last night.
The location is great, depending on what you want to do. We spent time at Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey -- which are all simple walks. There are a handful of things that we did that weren't convenient to our tube line, so we did a little walking on the first couple of days -- particularly for Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Leicester Square, Theater District, etc. The choice was to walk for 20 minutes or take two trains which had you walking for 14-16 minutes and riding for 3-6 minutes. We just walked for those items. For everything else we did, it was easy to grab the tube.
We didn't do any excursions or guided tours, but they did have a concierge desk and the hop-on-hop-off tour companies all park near the hotel and offer to sell tickets from the sidewalk.
We needed very little from the hotel -- but every interaction with staff (reception, food/hospitality, doormen/bell services) was spot on. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
