Hamilton Place is just a big shopping mall. It doesn't offer anything you couldn't find in any suburban shopping area in most American cities. The only advantages I can think of is that the hotels there are more likely to have free parking and it is quick to get on I-75. If you are in Chattanooga for the Civil War history or the Tennessee Aquarium, the revitalized downtown is closer. I haven't been there recently and can't recommend any specific hotels, but all of the standard mid-range American hotels are there, e.g. Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Courtyard Marriott, etc. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can recommend one of the independent hotels that probably have more charm.
