I booked the return inaugural Incheon to Seattle flight, once they released a bunch of business class award seats.
There will definitely be some kind of celebration at Seattle, and I expect a small ceremony in Seoul Incheon.
The Narita to Seattle inaugural flight had a big ceremony, which was unsurprising because Japan has a huge AvGeek community and these kind of inaugural events matter much to the country. But South Korea is a bit more conservative. However I still expect a small ribbon cutting ceremony and some kind of Hawaiian Airlines themed gifts. But I have already lowered my expectation. Given I managed a cheap business class award (still available) and I just want to be part of the history. Onboard service will definitely be underwhelming and it is basically a slightly upgraded Hawaiian Airlines inflight service. [For main cabin, you get two hot meals. For business, the only difference is literally one more choice of meal, a Korean set dinner, and you get to choose a cheese plate for dessert - you don't even get both cheese and dessert.]
If you are based in Seattle, i will aim for the Rome and London inaugural, which will definitely be a big event because Alaska will be really launching a new cabin product with newly reconfigured 787-9s and Europe will be truly new to Alaska Airlines.
