We both have AAdvantage #s - both are shown i.e. listed next passenger 1 and 2 names in the transaction - in the reservation and on the physical credit card.

I am pretty sure that the free bag is an option provided by the card - it always has been in the past ...
then there is the question shouldn't it be coming with Main Cabin Extra reservation anyway .. since it does when you choose the cash option.
A Main Cabin Plus cash fare is a bundled fare: it includes a free checked bag and a Main Cabin Extra seat. Merely paying extra for a Main Cabin Extra seat on a Coach award ticket does not entitle you to a free checked bag.

However, if you hold a qualifying AAdvantage credit card and your AAdvantage number is in the reservation record, then each of the two passengers on the same PNR should get a free checked bag. Tell us the name of the particular credit card you have and we'll tell you if it comes with the free-checked-bag benefit.
