Don't close your Red, just DP it to the no-AF Aviator (White). Then you can decide whether it's worth reapplying for the Red. You'll still have an Aviator card that should get transferred to Citi, but nobody knows what that transfer looks like yet.
I have a White and a Red currently, don't plan to reapply for another before the switch, and after, if I can end up with two more Citi Custom Cash cards, that'll do just fine.
