The stairs in T5 are obviously far more dangerous than those in LCY. Coming to think of it, the stairs at A gates departures are obviously far more dangerous than the stairs to baggage claim, or the stairs between departures and the lounges, or the stairs down to the tunnel between terminals. Bonkers.
But I
have seen some boarding warriors tackling the stairs at an unwise pace, presumably to get ahead of their competitors on the escalators. Maybe the new policy attempts to save them from the possible consequences of rash behaviour.
