Status Points vs. Redeemable Points Clarification
Wondering if anyone has any insights (maybe it has been discussed here already) if Status Point accrual schemes are different from base/bonus points accrual. For example, I will likely choose Segments as my option for status points given that I mostly fly within California and my current flight patterns would early earn status through this method. Occasionally, however, I fly a longer route on Alaska. I understand that those longer routes (SAN - SEA, for example) would still only earn 500 Status Points; however, does that also mean that I would only earn 625 points total points (given the 25% silver bonus) that then get added into my available points balance for redemption?
In short: are redeemable points locked into the same earning mechanism as status points?
