Comfort upon booking is only for Platinum, not SkyTeam Elite Plus. I was able to book front of coach on WestJet as a platinum, but gold was n/a.
You might be able to get on the upgrade list, but it's unlikely you'd get it, based on stack ranking.
I believe there was a recent thread that baggage allowance is also limited in the Caribbean.
