Got lucky with a RU upgrade to J at T-7 & then a late aircraft change to new layout/product ZK NZH.
PVG-AKL NZ288
Impressed with new J seat. 5A
-Seat & sleep position comfortable ( hint: if a right side sleeper choose rows A or J -knees angle into entrance opening. Makes for less confined feel & better sleep)
-Mattress comfortable
- See out the window again
-Great large touch screen. No remote any more which is good.
-Divider /slide gives a lot more privacy
-Table good - note the previous comments of rattling on take off
-Wifi worked well
-Food excellent & tasty
Minor gripe is position of light/call light/table open buttons. Easy to accidently knock & probably need to be repositioned on later plane upgrades. Crew unnecessary being called . Waste of their time.
Pleased to say a big step forward overall
Little off topic but need to say NZ need to be aware that some of the great crew 'Kiwiness' is missing on the PVG legs. Travelled return AKL-PVG-AKL
CSM's AKL based, were outstanding but balance of PVG based crew were missing that Kiwi feel & demeanour. Bit going thru the motions. No enjoyment or friendly interaction that usually makes NZ stand out.
(We flew 2 days prior on LH from FRA-PVG in J. Crew way more attentive & friendly than NZ . LH J Food & FRA lounge terrible , seat pre Allegis has had it's day)
