When an airline messes up I don't intend to use any travel insurance at all but rather hold the airline responsible. As a consumer you should be protected without any need for additional insurance.
Hence I was curious whether it is within your rights to deny a downgrade and force the airline to put you in your original booking class on the next flight, and if so, who covers the costs in the meantime (hotel, meals, transport, etc.).
