I have seen access restrictions for the AS LAX lounge, whether day passes or other rules that the LAX lounge makes up. Have never seen restrictions on AA T5 AC though. It's not a bad place to calmly pass time even if the food and space are "basic". For a 6.5h layover I think it's worth the day pass.
In any case I'd prefer the AA T5 AC over the AS LAX lounge. AS has better coffee and beer but the food is equally mediocre and it's smaller and more crowded than AA T5. After a few hours you might feel claustrophobic with AS.
Still, I wouldn't buy day passes for October use now. There's construction in the AA terminals at LAX and the plans / closures seem to change with little notice sometimes. So who knows what could be happening in October that can cause issues for you.
