Some airlines cancel/change your flight and give you sensible alternative options. Xiamen gave me the option of spending 26 hours in Xiamen and arriving a day late for my event. If that's all they could come up with, they are useless to me and too much of a risk to fly. I will stick to airlines which have more than one flight a day between major hubs!
