I am aware that the waiver is for the partner booking fere. I did say that I have paid more than $500 in the last year on partner booking fees.
Not relevant, but BA is not an airline that I consider for awards. I have no desire to relinquish my points for the privilege of paying a good portion of the fare. There are other options, including revenue BA flights that include the surcharges and earn RDM in addition to EQM on the flight. Would I pay 45K miles and $996 in fees to fly JFK-LHR? Not a chance. Would I pay 45K and $19 on AA? Still no! I would purchase the AA flight in Main from AS for $334 and sit in MCE for the often sub 6h flight while earning full EQM/RDM. If you can't do a red-eye, take the day flight.
