Or should I wait til we possibly have the $300 credit, assuming that is the best we get in 2025, and then book the hotel? What is your strategy?
I have booked a FHR for under $200 (let’s say $191), cancelled it, booked a hotel over $200 (let’s say $260) and received the additional $9 to bring my total FHR benefit for the year up to $200.
So probably best to make the October booking; most likely the worst case scenario is you’ll have another $100 to use, the best case scenario another $300. It makes sense to book it now because if chase offered an ADDITIONAL $300 credit, you wouldn’t get it on top of the current $200 unless you booked it now.
If there’s no additional $300 credit on top of the $200, assuming the rate is same, in September after the changes are announced make a new booking and cancel the existing one for the same hotel on the same dates to get the extra $100.
