That is not true, unless you are considering galley noise. The noisiest parts of the plane are the engines, so the closer you are to those, the louder it will be - and with that, it gets much quieter as you go farther forward than it does as you go farther aft.
On JetBlue's A321neo aircraft with Mint, Mint Studios are only in the first row (i.e., 1A and 1F). The rest of the Mint seats are called Mint Suites.
I would suggest sitting as far forward as possible. Meals are served from forward to aft and the meal service takes a notoriously long time to complete. If I were in row 9 or higher and it were an overnight eastbound flight, I would probably skip the meal and just sleep.
