Virgin Atlantic canx their leg of AF rewards flight, what's likely to happen next?

Booked FCO-LCY-LHR-BOS PE OCT 29, and this morning, VA emailed me saying they are very sorry, but they have to cancel VS 11 on 29 OCT. They also state the cancellations will show up tomorrow (Aug 16). They also state "You’ll be automatically rebooked on the closest available Virgin Atlantic operated service.". However, looking at the availability of award flights, there is nothing available till Monday, Nov 4, and that's just Economy. What typically happens in these kinds of instances? Do they just put us on the next available flight with seats in our class, even if those aren't showing rewards availability?

What happens on AF's side of things? Will they wait and see what VA does and roll with that, or would I have options to be rebooked with them also?
