Your suggestion is they pro rate the flight and hotel pre year end and post year end into the relevant years - but wait til you are back to make sure you completed the trip? I just don’t see that as being supported by the t&c wording.
That is not quite what I am suggesting but let me clarify with a very recent example to go with the quote from the T&Cs:

For my recent BAH with return flights and a hotel:

Avios and Bonus nTPs for Flight 1 posted 3 days after Flight 1.
Avios and Bonus nTPs for Flight 2 posted 3 days after Flight 2.
Bonus BAH Avios posted 4 days after Flight 2.
nTPs for BAH posted 11 days after Flight 2.

This matches the quote from the T&Cs

  1. All passengers who have added a British Airways Club membership number prior to travel will receive their tier points within 14 working days of their trip completing.
My expectation is for the BAH nTPs to post in 2026/2027 because in the new system you do not get credited nTPs for the individual flights - you only get credited for the whole holiday and that is also in the T&Cs:

No additional tier points will be earned for the flight element of the holiday package
