Eventually stayed just two nights in August 2025.

There has been management changes and that obviously leeds to other changes.

Overall we were not that impressed with our third Diamond stay. There were many issues that simply should not have been.

Received a "welcome" e mail, and was informed that the lounge had changed from two full plates of great food to some small nibbles "to keep with brand standards" Direct quote from GM

Was not told about building work, and water supply problems, or we would not have booked.

On the positive, all staff, especially "Tim" the concierge and the lovely people at the lounge were great. I will mention them by name on Google Review as they will get "points" for being named. Sad.

Arrived at the same time as a full coach of cruise tourists, and despite having the concierge open the lift to take us to the Club for check in the cruise tour was mostly just rammed in with us. It turns out that they got most of the rooms on the top floors.

Room was what we booked, but disappointed in no offer of upgrade ( well if we paid we could have one ), as booked a few months ago. Lowest and worst room in the category. ( Returning Diamond Guest ... ) No bottle opener, no spoons for tea, and chipped and broken fixtures. Mould on Air Conditioner. Dirty window. ( It can be cleaned as the windows on the low floors open - and did ) hairs in chipped bath. Two days running. Did not use. Did get a bottle of sparkling wine and some other things as a room gift. Room opposite lift. No one had looked on our profile. It stated no alcohol! and away from lift.

Pool was being cleaned when guests swimming in it. ( Physical scraping pool sides and stuff in full work uniforms IN POOL )

Seems the new GM has brought the hotel ( IMHO ) to the same brand standard as the Sofitel Taksim Square!

Two other senior hotel management did a superb service recovery though. Hotel to airport, and more importantly a very nice evening meal one night in the Vietnamese themed restaurant ( It was the best food we had eaten for a long time anywhere - 100% recommend )

GM seemed more interested in welcoming river boat tours into the hotel than talking with me about our stay. Avoided me on departure ( yet was in lobby )

Overall, have stayed in much better Mercures., and much much better Sofitels. Its a lot of money for the room, but the lounge staff excellent. Good Restaurant for evening meal. Breakfast - umm not the best. And why the welcome letter states we can have free breakfast at a weekend world wide ?

Sorry if pictures are out of order
