Well, it's only a "huge value" if somebody will buy your shares for more money before the company goes broke.
But I have seen a lot of these "failing company" scenarios. About 50% of them DO go broke, 20% just muddle along, 10% reinvent themselves, and 20% get bought. Your winnings on the 30% that get bought out or reinvented have to be higher than your losses on the 70%. It's definitely possible to make money this way, but it ain't easy.
