You can take the afternoon BKK/SGN-KUL, overnight in KL and take the next morning KUL-AKL OR you can take the last flight out of BKK or SGN and take the next evening flight out. Bags will automatically be checked through if you didn't request to short check them. If you need your bags for the overnight, there shouldn't be any problem for you to request the check in agent to short check your bags just to KUL. Any connection over 24 hours cannot be checked through.
IME, I prefer the evening departures to AKL so I can sleep on the plane. The daytime departure is a very long day flight and you arrive just after midnight.
Thanks for the info
I don't normally sleep well on an aircraft (even in F or J), so would probably prefer the day time flight. Arrival at around midnight and straight into the Novotel at AKL for a good nights sleep.
