UA isn't likely to do any of these things for free until and unless the flight under question is actually canceled. Labo(u)r negotiations frequently go down to the wire. UA may choose to issue a waiver, but most waivers don't allow changing the origin / destination city when there are still flights to/form the ticketed city.
Great. So that means I may not find out till late night Friday and my flight is Saturday at 8:15am. That's not much time to call in to rebook. If the flight is cancelled, is the default action by UA to rebook or refund? I foresee a stressful next few days and a chaotic morning soon.
