What can I do to have UA rebook me at this point without it costing me more?

Also, if hypothetically I can't get the rebook made, and I drive to ORD to catch the second leg, would UA ticket this to or would my flight be cancelled as I missed the first leg?
When and if AC cancels your flight, I suggest that you ask UA about connecting to MCO at other US airports in addition to ORD. I'm not familiar with the relevant details of UA's schedule, but there should be flights via at least EWR and IAD. Be prepared to be as flexible as you can as far as departure times are concerned.
