What happens to luggage on a long layover?
I'm looking at going from UK to New Zealand in October, with a stopover in SE Asia for a few days on the way out to break up the journey.
It looks like either BKK - KUL - AKL, or SGN - KUL - AKL, with the option of either a day time or night time flight for the long leg. If I take an afternoon flight to KUL connecting to the 8:40am flight the next day does my luggage get checked through to AKL or do I have the option of collecting at KUL and checking back in the following day.
If I have a choice is it better to stay airside without my hold luggage, or clear immigration and stay landside with my cases
