I'm still in Peru, though moved on to Arequipa. Regardless, the ATM to use is Banco de la Nacion. I checked my bank statement and the rate is market rate, like 3.54 sols to 1 USD, and no fee of any kind. Previously I tried Scotia Bank and Interbank and both had extortionate fees/exchange rate. I have since used Banco de la Nacion in both Lima and Arequipa.
I left Lima from the new airport. I was in the domestic terminal as I flew from Lima to Arequipa. It was large and modern though with a disconcerting number of U.S. 'restaurants' Not only the usual McDonald's and Starbucks, but also KFC, TGIF, Pizza Hut. In Lima itself, I even came across Applebee's and IHOP (yikes). Starbucks is huge in Lima--I'm sure I saw at least 20 of them while walking around (I do walk a lot though).
Peru is great! Lima had highs in the high 60s every day though often cloudy but no rain. Arequipa is really great with highs in the the low 70s and sunny every day. Great contrast to D.C. summers of hot and humidity.
