Also, as others have mentioned, $125k in annual spend probably puts you in the top decile of 'normal' spenders. They are really just clamping down on the outliers who found ways to max out CC spend as part of their business or other means. Bill Sr. used to have a friend that owned a wine store in Alberta and bought all of his inventory on his then Aerogold VISA card and man, he had a LOT of Aeroplan points. He paid that card off every month so they never made a $ of interest off of him but he raked in the points!
But it’s still kind of funny because these people (me included) that spend much more than $125k/year on the CC are supposedly the market they’re going after.
I’m guessing it’s just that they think the 25k SQD is enough to keep this demographic engaged with AC and anything after doesn’t help. And given the lack of CC rewards in Canada they may be right.
