I've been reflecting on this and I'm actually kind of glad they did away with the premium bonuses for LQM. What they appear to be now saying is that million Mile status going forward will actually require a million miles with your bum in the seat irrespective of fare (excluding Basic). To me that helps to re-establish the value of MM as a loyalty component rather than being financially based (albeit past earnings have been grandfathered).
I'm actually probably less upset about this than others, largely because the majority of my current 803,000 LQMs were earned back of the bus on flex fares over the past 20 years. Yeah, I benefited from the COS bonuses in the last few years, but that maybe adds 75,000 to my total.
I still have 193,000 miles to go. I'll probably do it just for the model plane and the sake of crossing that milestone. But yeah, it will be disappointing to not have the upgrades going forward.
