I don't have any external PP upgrades currently but do have a trip I booked for my wife -- the option to remove from my trips is not there any more -- perhaps the recent IT fiasco changed things -- or they just removed it -- but I agree it is annoying. As many here can attest I've sponsored others upgrades many times and never had an issue removing their data from my listing....
