I read various articles regarding this but would appreciate some real life info and technical advice - do you change the numbers at check in or just at the gate? We have flights coming up with AY and tier points would work out much better on Iberia Club than crediting them to BA - obviously want to use lounge and additional luggage allowance so we have our BA numbers on the bookings. Thank you very much for any advice / info on this.
Hi, there is a dedicated thread for changing ffp: Changing Frequent Flyer Numbers after Booking
For BA bookings I called BA and they changed the FFP program for me. They allowed me to keep existing seat reservations for free.
For AY and CX bookings, I changed at check-in.
In all cases, I used business check-in, showing my BA Silver card, even though I credited another ffp.
For luggage and security, I didn't refer to my BA Silver status, so I have no info to add.
For lounge access, using BA Silver status: Works without problems in LHR, HKG and SIN. However, some people report that other lounges may change the ffp back to BA if you use your Silver card for lounge access. I recommend you to ask the lounge crew before you give them your BAC details, and to check everything is in order at the gate before boarding. Gates at LHR are a bit special. Sometimes they check it, sometimes they state they cannot check it.
