How will the milestones work for me in 2026 and 2027 - I assume none unless I hit the thresholds by earning SQC by spending with AC (or other means) - ie: no zooming through the thresholds like the prior rollover would do for you?

The difference seems to be that under the old program you would begin the year with your status and benefits. In 2028 you will begin with your status but still need to earn your benefits. So SE doesn't mean as much as it used to.
I think it starts in 2026. He will be SE with 30 e ups and "core benefits". However the rollover SQM/SQC conversion (e.g. (250k-100k)/5) should generate 30k SQC and trigger the 10k, 20k and 30k milestone benefits. That's my understanding assuming he ends the year with 250k. In 2027 the 10% Head Start kicks in which could trigger the first few milestone benefits depending on the year end SQC.
