I don't deny that good value hot spots exist for redemptions, but they are FAR from what they used to be. Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky, but my days of scouring Aeroplan for a good redemption deal are wayyyy behind me. I just pay for what I where to go, in J or F. I wouldn’t say I spend much time scouring Aeroplan for a good redemption deal, but with a son who lives in the USA and a daughter with in-laws there – to me, Priority Rewards are a legit perk to use my Aeroplan miles to shuttle them around a few times a year. But now I have to choose that, or SDC boosts or eupgrades. In the past, you just got them at certain thresholds.
Like you, I’ve got other priorities to spend my time on. I’m done wasting time on these ridiculous loyalty (read: marketing) schemes. If the game is rigged, the only way to win is to not play the game.
I’ll still likely get my 75K status for 2027, but I won’t choose a worse flight just to cross a diminished AC threshold.
