Priority rewards are the biggest thing for me, and I guess they are better if I have better status, but now I have to choose them to the exclusion of other benefits that used to be automatic and I generally spend them on the family doing domestic Y so the 75k advantages are pretty much non existent.
I hear you. I use all my priority rewards for family and now I’ll have to choose Priority Rewards OR eupgrades OR SDC bonuses.
Redemption rates are so high for Aeroplan bookings, even with Priority Rewards. Now I’m either forfeiting upgrades or burning through my Aeroplan miles twice as fast.
This thread isn’t even 48 hours old and it’s blowing up. Would love to see a poll gauging member’s reactions to this rollout. “Has this changed your opinion of Air Canada”? “Will this change the amount you fly on other carriers in lieu of Air Canada”? “How will this affect your status level?” And so on …
I’m already pricing United flights to SFO this fall. What’s the point of banking status and miles with a company that goes after their loyal customers with such a heavy hand? They spent the last few years suckering in many new members with promises of credit cards perks, lounge access, upgrades that would never happen (the waitlists are almost comical at times). Geesh.
