This! I think that argument that it will free up lounge space is a misconception. People that lose 50k status (and this will also include many who are currently 75k) will just get the credit card to maintain the benefit. It will help nothing.
It does help AC - AC keeps their loyalty, get a cut from the credit card and no longer has to pay Star partners for benefits that the person got as a 50K and likely pays out fewer points and other benefits. It might not help
us if we're looking for emptier lounges.
