I am new to posting here but have followed many threads over the years and have been keenly reading all the speculation and now the aftermath. Been fortunate to have flown on the company dollar for 15 years now, mostly long haul in J and just crossed over 2MM. Somehow I did not get wise to the premium credit card until last year but will benefit from a ~37K SQC headstart going into 2026 with quite a few trips on the books this year. My AC spend is normally $40-50K per year but will be closer to $80K this year. Unfortunately that spend goes on a corporate credit card so SQC on my own card will not max out - but the rollover now and even the 10% rollover will still make the card worth it.
I know I'm in the category that folks won't be too happy with on here but I for one look forward to some less crowded lounges and boarding areas. Even the SS has become a bit of a zoo at times. I know I'm in the target demo for these changes but I was worried they were going to go heavier on the credit card spend than they did, but am happy that they've leaned into making it truly a FF program. I also quite like the picking of benefits as you go.
I have enough travel shelf life that I should have no trouble getting to 3MM and the biggest perk of that for me would be the concierge. The drop to 1x for the LQM when flying J is a big hit - was planning to get to 3MM in 6 years which will now be closer to 10. All the changes favour the more expensive fares here so I'm wondering why AC gave more LQM for the standard fares than exists now but has reduced them for J.
A colleague of mine does not do much business travel but has money and him and his wife went to Greece and paid for J on AC. 2 or 3 of those trips and he's banked SE whereas he would have needed 5-7 of those trips to get there in the current system. Like it or not, it does make sense to me that the spenders get the goods, I'm just lucky enough to be able to do it with OPT!
All in all, can't complain.
