Unless I know for sure I'm both departing and returning to Terminal A, I park in P4, go through security at Terminal C and use the airside shuttle if I need to get to to or from Terminal A. I'd rather take the airside shuttle from A to C, and then get on the AirTrain than deal with the hike to the Terminal A AirTrain platform.
