Compared to the more lowkey cards than that, the add on is only "20,000" points for spending 5,000,001 yen, and the yearly bonus being 5,000 instead of 3,000 miles. So you pay the much higher fee for 22,000 miles. If you don't have status, the mile up bonus is 25% which is indeed better. the 80,000 for 5M spend only comes when including the 50,000 you'd also get on the mid range JAL cards. The lower range cards would of course only be 25,000. This one I would really struggle to see the benefits, unless you also here look at the lifestyle benefits beyond the miles.
