Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road
Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road
What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, apart from an IHG screw-up (described in more detail in the main thread) where the hotel did not receive my booking from IHG and caused me to spend many hours on the phone getting my purchased points to post correctly.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Cheapest room > King Standard High Floor Balcony (corner room)
How are the rooms?
Fanciful boutique design with wooden flooring.
Lots of waist-level storage and table space, useful for organising luggage, shopping, documents etc.
Nice view over the gardens of the Dutch embassy(?). But as the room faces north and west, the sun is glaring especially in the afternoon and curtains must be let down to be able to see inside the room.
The balcony is very small and not useful, it barely fits two people standing.
The bathroom has a large shower cubicle containing a bench, which was useful for washing our swimwear. There was minor cosmetic damage to the sink area and the water pressure was very low.
How is the exec. lounge?
None
What was good and what was bad?
As Diamond, given breakfast which was an excellent full buffet with egg dishes/pancakes available for order via small paper forms left on each table. The Asian buffet dishes were of higher quality than the western options. The soup noodle station was disappointing. In addition to Thai and Japanese curries, Indian subcontinent curries were also offered. There was a wide range of customisable hot and cold drinks, both barista and self-serve.
Rooftop pool water was cold, but bearable after the initial shock.
The room opens into open-air corridors. Fortunately we were not there during the super hot / humid season.
Location is close to Phloen Chit Road with the BTS line and the associated elevated walkways that connect to various shopping complexes. However the ground level sidewalk along Wireless Road is narrow and poorly paved with multiple potholes, not the best experience to have 3-4 times a day, but also not much the hotel can do about it.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Cost to me was about GBP 135/night nett, not including the bonus EQP that I purchased and did not receive in full (but received additional non-EQP).
This felt slightly pricey and comparable to western countries, but I think is the reality of Bangkok now and not unreasonable when e.g. the main IC can command USD 300/night. There are a large number of midscale and upscale Bangkok hotels that I would like to try before returning.
