FWIW, I recently booked night an IHG hotel. Points cost was $205 with a 100% bonus on purchased points. $246 for money. I am not counting the 10% point rebate of the Seledt card which would be about $20 worth of 0.5 cents points. Or the points I would have earned as a member and using my Select card.
As the old commercial goes, "That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works."
When you make a points-redemption booking, it matters not which card you use to guarantee the reservation, or to pay for incidental charges: as long as you
hold both the Premier card and the Select card, you will get the fourth award night free,
and a 10% rebate on the points redeemed.
If you have incidental charges, you would earn more points by paying with the Premier card rather than the Select card. But you could also pay with a Chase Sapphire Preferred card if you'd rather earn some Hyatt points, United Airlines miles, etc. It's entirely up to you to decide which card is most lucrative for you when paying for incidental charges on a redemption stay. It will not affect your fourth-night-free or 10%-points-rebate benefits.
