Hi all,
Hoping for some collective wisdom before my next round of phone-tennis!
- Original booking: 2× adult Club Europe seats LHR-TLV return, booked on BA Avios with a UK Amex companion voucher (so all tickets on 125- stock).
- What happened: BA cancelled the BA-operated flight and, as an involuntary reroute, placed us on the equivalent EL AL flights (same dates).
- New development: Our daughter was born yesterday 🥳. She’ll be three months old when we travel. I want to add her as a lap infant.
- The run-around so far:
- BA Executive Club agent insisted “Because EL AL is operating the flights, you must call EL AL to add the infant.”
- What I think should happen: BA, as ticketing carrier, re-prices the booking at 10 % Avios + 10 % taxes for the infant, re-issues on 125- stock, and sends the INFT SSR to EL AL. But maybe there’s a special interline quirk I’m missing?
Questions for the hive mind
- Has anyone successfully added an infant to a BA-issued Avios booking that was rerouted onto another carrier?
- If BA really won’t do it, can EL AL legally/technically issue a standalone infant ticket on 114- stock and cross-reference the adults’ PNR – and would BA later reimburse that cost?
- Any magic words or specific BA department (“Ticketing Support Desk”, “Revenue Accounting”?) that I should ask for to get this sorted?
Any first-hand experiences or suggestions much appreciated – our travel date is still a few months away, but I’d like to lock this down before availability/morale evaporates!
