I didn't say that, but status and EQNs are given out like confetti in some parts of the world now through various CCs and promotions. They may not have been free to you, but they are to many.

We don't disagree. NUAs aren't a golden ticket. Mine always expire without even trying to use them. But some parts of the world - north america and asia in particular - are chock full of status members (who may or may not have paid for their status), and availability of discretionary benefits is impacted accordingly.
