Absolutely! Best to do so well before you get to the checkpoint.
If you're going to place the items inside a carry-on bag, I do think it makes sense to place them first in a zippered plastic bag. This will:
1. keep them together; and
2. possibly make it more difficult for a thief to steal one or more of the items without being detected.
