I usually fly solely BA, but had a recent LHR-IAD-LHR set of flights on United where I noticed a very different seatbelt policy. UA kept the seatbelt sign on until cruising altitude and put them on very early during descent. They also seemed to put them on with the very slightest of bumps.
On BA, it appears that on long haul they go off around the 20,000 feet mark and on again about 20 minutes before landing. It also seems to take quite a few bumps before they come on...! I know on shorthaul they go off a lot quicker and seem to stay off until around 10/15 minutes from landing.
Does anyone know what BA's policy is here?
