whether the effort is worth it depends on how much they are losing per year. also not a lot of trouble if they are already negotiating with airlines so that they can offer transfer partners for a new card or some other existing cards. i mean transferrable partners seems all the rage these days and it could be probably cheaper to buy than the 1cpp - 1.5cpp they are paying out as cashback especially considering that people will hold a balance instead of redeeming the points consistently. so changing usbar could save them a lot of money and not being to retain card members is not a problem since the current usbar isnt profitable anyway

but yeah, 1 other possibility is that they will reopen the card
