Still plenty going out there, especially in the premium cabins, but places such as Dubai might be more attractive to those "low spend" leisure travellers who BA aren't too fussed about.
The high end of Dubai has also gone massively up in price over the last couple of years as more wealth has gravitated there just like the US, the only difference is it’s from a lower base and there are still some relative bargains. The likes of FS Jumeirah and similar are now charging $1K per night in winter season (let alone pricing at the uber lux end like Bulgari). The suite type I paid less than $1K for at FS DIFC during COVID (admittedly a very good deal at the time) is now nearly $4K. It’s mad when you think where Dubai hotel prices were even five years ago.
I imagine DXB is one of BA’s higher margin longhaul routes these days which is why they’re investing in a new lounge that won’t be cheap.
