I still fly BA because I enjoy the service, despite all. I have a home in London though I primarily live elsewhere and fly Club Europe / Club World back to my London house probably 9-10 times a year. Most of these flights are BA. This is largely due to the tax situation as well, I am only allowed to spend 120 days or less ( I am tracking around 100 days this year) in the UK or risk being taxed on worldwide income by the HMRC, which is a non starter. I decided to cut ties to the UK due to recent changes, which don't make sense in my situation.

However, I stopped participating in the BA Club as it is called now, because the program is essentially worthless. Credit primarily to Qatar - which makes sense in my situation. I imagine this ends up costing BA more - then if they just keep the program as is.

The final icing on the cake is there is no scheme for Chase BA card holders to earn tier points, much like the BA Amex. I am divested my British interests and dont' qualify for the card - I am American ( though I don't live in the US) so I can get the BA chase card which I have.

The reality is the Virgin style of service is not my cup of tea. Easyjet is a non starter, so is Ryanair, so what is left is BA

I was speaking with a travel analyst who is well known a few days ago in New York, and we discussed the pros and cons of the program. The move made my Delta, United and American makes sense for US carriers because of the credit card landscape, the same economics doesn't really exist in the UK.

A program simmilar to flying Blue ( AF KLM ) makes sense for the UK / EU landscape, not a direct copy paste of an American program.

Anyway - I wish them well. Is there any point to BA Club?
