Detailed review of my stay in August 2025

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Royal Ambassador Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes, great stay.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate and received one King Premium Club Lounge Access on high floor.

How are the rooms?
Around 38 sqm..

Very elegant interior design.

Seating area with table
Large smart TV with very basic selection of international channels.
NoChromecast.
Bose mini Sound Link.

Nespresso machine. Kettle.
Free minibar for soft drinks.

Desk.

Bedroom with very comfortable bed.
Usb and electrical sockets next to the bed and desk.

Large bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower.
"Bal d'Afrique" amenities.

Toto washlets.

Very quiet. Very efficient air conditioning system.
Superb view over the city.

Free PressReader.

How is the exec. lounge?
Simply Great.
Very elegant design

The club lounge serves very good breakfast (pretty much the same as the one served at main restaurant).

Afternoon tea.

Evening selection of cold canapés and pastries.
Drinks.

The Club Lounge at the InterContinental The Strings Tokyo is simply outstanding. The service is nothing short of exceptional — attentive, discreet, and genuinely warm.

But what truly sets it apart is the quality of the food on offer. The buffets are of an impressively high standard, with fresh, perfectly prepared salads and a breakfast spread that is both generous and varied.

You’ll find several breakfast options to suit different tastes, but I must say I have a soft spot for the Mediterranean selection — a rare and delightful touch in Japan.

The atmosphere is serene and refined, making the lounge a true haven of peace above the city. With its elegant setting and lovely views over Tokyo, this is without doubt one of the best Club Lounges I’ve experienced. Wholeheartedly recommended.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Japanese quality of service at its best.
Very elegant interior design.
Great club lounge.
Unbeatable location.

Bad
Nothing

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Points? Would you return?
Yes, definitely.

The Strings is a true gem — combining an excellent location, outstanding service, and a remarkable Club Lounge.

It’s the perfect base for exploring Tokyo and the surrounding areas. With Shinagawa Station just downstairs, it’s also ideally placed for day trips or longer journeys across Japan.

The hotel offers a rare blend of comfort, convenience and quiet sophistication. Wholeheartedly recommended.

The hotel is less than 10 minutes by train from Haneda Airport, with direct access to Shinagawa Station, making it convenient for both international arrivals and domestic travel.

Just over 20 minutes on foot brings you to the What Museum and the Terrada Art Complex, set within a vibrant and increasingly arty district that’s well worth exploring. There’s also a nearby Docomo bike-sharing station just around the corner — perfect for discovering the local area at your own pace.
